PHUKET: A municipal official who tried to break up a lovers’ quarrel on Patong Beach yesterday evening is being treated in a Phuket hospital for a stab wound after his stomach was accidentally sliced open by an enraged young woman. Patong Municipality officer Prakij “Oh” Phenjun was on Patong Beach at about 7:30pm yesterday when he heard a young man and woman yelling at each other.

With seven minutes remaining in the first half during Ajax and AZ Alkmaar’s last 16 cup tie, a home fan evaded security, ran on to the pitch and went for Alkmaar’s South American goalkeeper, Esteban Alvarado. The 19-year-old supporter managed to swing his leg at Esteban as the goalkeeper defended himself which resulted in the shaven-headed thug collapsing to the ground.
