    Phuket setting up tourist service centres along the west coast beaches

    Phuket’s Vice Governor, Sanit Srivihok, held a meeting yesterday (November 29) to discuss locations for the tourist service centres on each of Phuket’s main beaches. The implementation of tourist service centres is a policy from Phuket’s Governor aiming to give information to travellers as well as providing support for any issues such as first aid in an accident or a contact location when people are lost. The beaches that the meeting decided to build tourist service centres include Patong Beach, Kata Beach, Karon Beach, Kamala Beach and Surin Beach.

    After a flash flood occurred on October 31 following just an hour of rain, Phuket Governor with his team visited the concerned areas and found that the drains were clogged by trash (again!). A budget of 220 million Baht is being set aside as part of the solution. A team consisting several departments at the Provincial office visited Thepkasattri Road in front of the Super Cheap Mall and Soi Surin 2 – areas that are often flooded.

    The Phuket Governor held a meeting yesterday (Saturday) bringing together all the beach lifeguard resources to prepare for the end of the lifeguard company contract which finished at 6.30 pm last night. Several local officials from the areas across Phuket joined the meeting to finalise preparations to send beach guards to each beach on the island today. There are 4 beaches in Muang Phuket district, Nai Harn Beach and Yanui Beach fall under the responsibility of Rawai Municipality and Kata Beach and Karon Beach which are under Karon Municipality.
