The „Race of Legends“ truly has a new legend in its record books after Cigana from Venice sauntered across the finish line in a time of 02:32:51 and adding the 2011 title to his 2010 and 2007 wins. Speaking to the Phuket Gazette, a very composed Cigana expressed satisfaction with his race.
PHUKET: One man died and another was seriously injured in a high-speed accident in the north of Phuket early this morning. Lt Kraithong Misang of Thalang Police told the Phuket Gazette that at about 4am he received a report that a car had hit a power pole in front of the Caltex Gas Station near Wat Srisoonthorn on Thepkrasatttri Road, north of Phuket Town
PHUKET: Two staffers at a currency exchange kiosk in the popular Phuket tourist area of Karon Beach were bound and gagged and robbed at knife point of mixed currencies with a total value of about 2 million baht last night. Amnard Ponpramun, 27, told the Phuket Gazette that he and work colleague Wilaiwan Khao-ong, 22, were closing up the Siam Commercial Bank currency exchange on Patak Road near Karon Circle at 8pm when the robbery occurred.

PHUKET: Phuket now has a female police officer dedicated to handling rape and sexual assault cases, Phuket Provincial Police Commander Pekad Tantipong confirmed yesterday. Speaking at the quarterly meeting of Phuket’s honorary consuls and top officials on the island, Maj Gen Pekad confirmed that the officer is stationed at Phuket City Police Station and is on call to handle cases involving allegations of rape and sexual assault. The news was much welcomed by British honorary consul Martin Carpenter and Australian honorary consul Larry Cunningham, who have both long championed a police ‘sex crime’ unit being established on Phuket.
