Officers inspect Karon Beach following complaints of sun lounge zoning
Officers inspected Karon Beach after they have received a complaint that beach sun lounges were creeping back and taking more than the 10 percent regulation zoning. The ubiquitous white plastic lounge chairs, that used to cover up vast swathes of Phuket’s popular beaches were all but banned when the NCPO took over government in 2014. Since, 10 percent zones have been permitted on most west coast beaches.

Man caught by Karon lifeguard stealing from tourist
A Thai man has been caught red-handed by lifeguards for stealing a foreigner’s bag containing cash, a mobile phone and wallet at Karon Beach yesterday (June 27) . The victim of the theft has only identified as a female foreign tourist who was enjoying her day on Karon beach opposite the Tourist Assistance Centre yesterday afternoon. Phuket handyman caught robbing safe in Russian woman’s room
PHUKET: Police Monday night arrested a hotel staffer in Karon who used a master key and a stolen room safe key to rob a Russian tourist of the equivalent of nearly 20,000 baht in banknotes. The thief also deleted CCTV records at the Karon Phunaka Resort and Spa in the hope of covering his tracks. Tatiana Gorshkova discovered 10,000 baht cash, US$100 (about 3,100 baht) and 6,000 rubles (nearly 6,000 baht) missing from her room safe yesterday afternoon.

Phuket lifeguards ordered to pull down ‚unsightly‘ beach station
PHUKET: Karon Municipality has decided to remove the Phuket lifeguard stand on Karon Beach on the grounds that it is unsightly and not fit for use. “Karon municipality officers led by Karon Deputy Mayor Ittiporn Singkaew have inspected the lifeguard station. It does not look nice and it is not well organized,” Karon Municipality Chief Administrative Officer (Palad) Weerasak Anekwongsawat explained.
