Sangkhla Buri floods declared a disaster zone
Kanchanaburi Governor Jirasak Phumsawat has declared Sangkhla Buri a flood disaster zone to speed up help to affected villagers. The governor took the action after seven villages in Tambon Nong Lu and three villages in Tambon Laivo were hit by floods on Friday morning following heavy rains that hit 70 per cent of the district.The disaster-zone declaration allowed the provincial administration to bypass the bureaucratic process to send help and compensation directly to the affected villagers

Channel dredged between Nai Harn beach and lake to help with croc catching
A channel has been dredged to connect Nai Harn beach with Nai Harn Lake to allow the crocodile to move in, making it easier to catch (The Thaiger suspects the crocodile might be on to the officials’ Cunning Plan). More than 50 officials and a specialist crocodile catcher team from Surat Thani have been planning to catch the crocodile while Nai Harn beach is now closed. The official ‘catch’ team has been patrolling around the area where the crocodile was last seen in the hopes that the crocodile may become weak and come ashore

The Thai Government is thanking the world for the international efforts to rescue the Mu Pa football team and their coach after being trapped in the Tham Luang caves. The show of gratitude is a 30-second TV spot which started airing on CNN International over the weekend. It starts with the smartphone video of the young survivors the moment they were first found perched on a ledge by a team of British drivers deep inside the dark and flooded cave. “An entire country is one in heartfelt thanks. Without national boundaries working in unity, the world is one. Thank you.” It ends with a shot of the mother of one of the rescued boys expressing relief upon knowing that her son was safe
