Tsunami remembrance ceremony held on Patong Beach
Locals, tourists and provincial dignitaries gathered this morning at Patong Beach for a remembrance ceremony commemorating 14 years since the deadly tsunami that struck the island on the morning of December 26, 2004. The ceremony, presided over by Patong Mayor Chalermluck Kebsup started at nine 9am. Flowers were placed on Patong Beach to remember those that died in the disaster

Location on hills in Patong, Karon and Kata to lose pressure Friday
The Phuket Water Authority (PWA) has announced that the water supply in some areas of Patong, Kata and Karon will be shut off from 9am to 5pm Friday (August 24). Water will be shut off as the Patong Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) will have to temporarily shut the electric off in some areas. Areas to be affected are locations on hills in Patong, Kata and Karon that require water to be pumped up to provide pressure.

Russian woman slashes her throat in Patong convenience store
The videos of a 41 year old Russian woman trying to cut her own throat inside a 7-11 in Patong have gone viral. The videos were captured on the store’s CCTV as well as staff mobile phones. The videos show a woman wearing a yellow-black shirt and black trousers cutting her throat in front of a fridge at a store in front of witnesses who tried to stop her.

Turkish woman robbed by Patong motorcycle taxi
Police have been searching for a motorcycle taxi, after a complaint from a Turkish tourist over sexual harassment and robbery. Police checked out the CCTV camera footage in the Patong area where the taxi picked up the victim.

Phuket’s Governor has received an update on the Patong underground cabling works during the morning meeting today (December 13).
