    Bomb suspects arrested in Pattani following two investigations

    PHOTO: Thai PBS Thai PBS reports that military and police officers have arrested two men suspected of involvement in the bombing of ATM machines in Pattani’s in May this year. Soldiers were sent to search two targets in Tambon Khlong Mai of Yarang district this morning. The first target was a house at Ban Chalong where 28 year old Malawi Maming was arrested.

Maj Gen Surachete reported that he saw the accident while he and his team were on their way to appointments in Phuket. A motorbike had been hit by another vehicle in Soi Surin 3 in Phuket Town.

    An Indian man was killed by another Indian citizen after he was assaulted by his co-worker’s wife while she was taking a bath yesterday (Aug 2) in Krabi. The reenactment held this morning was led by Khao Panom Police Chief Col Kajit Kongprab. The attacker was 25 year old Indian, Prakart Natarang, who is a staff member of a biomass power plant in Khao Panom, Krabi

  • 7,000 pirated items seized in Samui sting

    Thailand’s favourite neighbourhood crime buster, Big Joke and his tourist police taskforce, have been working the markets of Koh Samui – the distribution network selling pirated goods on the island. Pol Maj Gen Surachet Hakpal says he was following orders from PM Prayut Chan-ocha to stamp out piracy. The deputy head of the tourist police was pictured on the Tourist Police website surrounded by fake goods that were on sale at Chaweng Beach. Some 7,000 items worth 2 million baht were seized at seven locations.

    Police searched Patong Bar owner Panya ‘Sia Auan’ Yingdang’s accommodation for evidence that may link him to the Sattahip double murder over the weekend. Chonburi Police, investigating the double execution-style murders in the car park of Buddha Mountain in Sattahip, say their initial investigations revealed a number of key suspects. Colonel Burin Thongprapai of the NCPO’s legal affairs department has accused Thanathorn of violating the Computer Crime Act for criticising the junta over the alleged poaching of ex-MPs of several parties and its failure to fix problems in farm prices. After the meeting with the TCSD police, the young politician told the media that whatever he spoke in the Facebook livestreaming on June 29 were facts and he didn’t think it amounted to political gathering of more than five people — an activity banned sine the junta swept to power in a coup in 2014

  • Thai officials make official request for Yingluck’s extradition

    The Thai Government has made an official request to the UK for the extradition of fugitive former PM Yingluck Shinawatra for prosecution back in Thailand. The Thai Embassy in London sent a letter dated July 5 to the UK’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office with attached copies of the Supreme Court verdict in the case against Yingluck along with her arrest warrant. The letter cites a 1911 treaty between the UK and ‘Siam’, Thailand’s former name, on the extradition of fugitive criminals
