Illegal bird feed vendors arrested at Tha Pae Gate, Chiang Mai.
Chiang Mai City Life is reporting that the pigeons at Tha Pae Gate have been an ongoing issue for the city as their numbers has been reportedly increasing. In the attempt to prevent an infestation of pigeons in the area, Chiang Mai Municipality enacted a law prohibiting any street vendor in the area to sell bird feed. For tourists and locals, it is not uncommon to have someone try and sell bird feed to you at the gate, despite this law.

Rayong grandmother gets back 117,000 baht in termite-damaged banknotes
Good fortune has smiled on a Rayong grandmother after she got back 117,000 baht in Thai banknotes that had been partially eaten by termites from police, a week after she dumped them in a garbage bin. 83 year old Chaluay Saetiaw was taken by her grandson, 49 year old Wasant Boon-anukul, to Mueang Rayong police station to retrieve the damaged banknotes at 10am this morning. Pol Lt-Colonel Yutthachai Phorung, inspector at the station, handed the cash back to the woman. Even better, the assistant manager of the Bank of Thailand’s Rayong branch, offered to exchange the damaged notes for new ones for the elderly lady

The Vientiane Times has confirmed that the 410 MW capacity hydro plant is a joint venture between SK Engineering and Construction (Republic of Korea), Korea Western Power (Republic of Korea), Ratchaburi Electricity Generating Holding PCL (Thailand), and Lao Holding State Enterprise (Laos).

Pattaya street racers busted
Pattaya youth have been foiled in their attempts to organise a late night street race. Pattaya police say they’ve detained 20 young motorcyclists early this morning (Sunday) and seized their bikes on suspicion they were planning illegal street races. Muang Pattaya Police led by deputy superintendent Pol Lt Colonel Korn Somkanay began a sweep of Jomtien 2 Road at about 1.30am after receiving a tip-off about teenagers planning a race there. Police say that there was no racing going on when they arrived, but suspects were detained pending drug tests and their bikes confiscated to check if they were illegally modified.

Lucky amulet or lousy shot? Cha-am man escapes gun attack.
Sanook is reporting that Cha-Am police found three casings from a 9mm gun near the Bor Prakhon housing estate by Soi 2 in Nong Ta Phot sub-district yesterday. A man was allegedly shot at six times by his son-in-law but not a single bullet hit him.

Sanook is reporting that Thai media are hailing the survival of a father and son as a miracle. The father and his three year old boy walked away from a horror crash on the Chiang Mai-Lampang highway.

New Thai stamps to commemorate HM The King’s 66th birthday
HM The King is featured on a new set of stamps issued by Thailand Post. The national post office has issued the new stamp featuring His Majesty the King to commemorate his 66 th birthday anniversary this Saturday. The stamp features the King in army uniform and is priced at 10 baht, or 20 baht including an envelope.
