Phuket police gear up for pre-election safety
More than 200 Phuket police yesterday lined up in a showcase parade to ‘assure’ locals, tourists and expats that they’re set up and ready for safety before the March 24 election. 245 police and Phuket’s Vice Governor Thanyawat Chanpinit lined up in front the Phuket City Police Station last night at 6 pm. The Phuket Provincial Police Commander Maj Gen Wisan Panmanee says, “We are ready to look after residents and tourists safety before election on March 24.” The ‘show of force’ didn’t explain the specific reasons for a rise in security before the national election, the first since 2011

Body recovered of a man who jumped off Sarasin Bridge last Thursday
The body of a man, who was seen jumping off Sarasin Bridge last week, has been found and recovered off the coast of Rawai in Phuket’s south. Kok Kloi Police in Phang Nga were notified about the man jumping off the bridge that links Phuket to the mainland (southbound) last Thursday. Read more about the man jumping off Sarasin Bridge HERE

Two lawyers killed in alleged hit and run – Surin
Police say a road incident where two lawyers were killed and the driver injured in Surin province’s Sangkha district, might have been a hit and run. Duangthip Hangchaidee and Issara Charoenpittaya were killed and their driver 30 year old driver Napat Plobmuang was injured in yesterday’s accident on the main road in Ban Nong Yoh village, Tambon Takong.

Alcohol ban on the weekend of the election AND the weekend before as well
Two weekends coming up where, if you absolutely, really, really need to have a drink, you’ll need to stock up. Alternatively you could leave the country. There will now be a 24 hour alcohol ban in the weekend BEFORE the general election on March 24 as well as on the weekend of the election.
