An investigation has been launched after an object, similar to an ancient cannon, was found near Koh Racha Noi off Phuket’s southern coast. Rawai Mayor Aroon Solos says he was informed that the object looked similar to an old cannon and was found underwater off the island. Mayor Aroon dived under water to check out the object for himself.

The Mu Koh Surin National Park in Phang Nga, 100 kilometres north of the Similans, has been closed down for the wet season and will be open again in November. The Mu Koh Surin National Park Chief Puttapot Kuprasit says, “The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) is forecasting that today there will be 60-70% chance of rain and high waves up to three metres in open waters of the Andaman Sea off Mu Koh Surin coast.” “For tourist safety the national park is being temporary closed from today until November. Normally the national park is closed from May 16 to November 15 every year.

Cherng Talay Tambol Administrative Organisation President Maann Samran says, “There are some hotels, restaurants and locals still releasing wastewater into Bang Tao Canal where it is flowing into the sea.” “Only 10% of them have connected their wastewater pipe into the wastewater treatment plants.” “Today we will use sand to block the Bang Tao Canal so the water will not flow into the sea. Waste water in the canal will be pumped and removed for treatment.” “This is not the right way to do it but in urgent situations we have to do this first.” Phuket’s Governor gave an urgent order to solve the problem of wastewater flowing into Bang Tao Beach after the issue went viral in social media
The Election Commission is, as promised, poised to announce the final election results next Tuesday and Wednesday. Tuesday’s initial round of results are sure to spark off a new round of political dramas – no matter who is considered the ‘winner’ from the results.
