    1,495 kilograms of ice seized in Pathum Thani, Thailand

    Police and officials from the Office of the Narcotics Control Board have arrested 26 year old Suwit Promon from Bangkok’s Ratburana district and seized 1,495 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and 91 kilograms of ketamine at a warehouse in Pathum Thani, just north of Bangkok. Police say the arrest was made after the ONCB received tip-offs that a gang had smuggled the drug from neighbouring countries to store at a rented warehouse in Pathum Thani for smuggling to other countries.

    A few key new facts have emerged in recent days as the search for the plane fuselage and the investigations continue… • Lion Air Flight 610 was intact with its engines running when it crashed at high speed into the Java Sea • Investigators have already determined that Flight 610 did not explode in the air and was in “good shape” when it entered the water • Investigators have confirmed there was a technical problem with the new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft on the day of the crash • Diving teams could no longer hear any signal from the cockpit voice recorder • The plane’s other ‘black box’, the flight data recorder, was located last Thursday • The plane had only recorded 19 flights, including last Monday’s flight • On the day before, a passengers says the same plane “dropped as if it was losing power. It dropped about 400 feet” The Lion Air Flight 610 was intact with its engines running when it crashed headlong into the Java Sea last Monday off the coast of Jakarta. The claim comes from the head of Indonesia’s National Transportation Safety Committee.

The three day event, another victory for four-time world champion Marc Marquez, turned incredible profits for the Kingdom in the first year of its three year deal.

    FILE PHOTO The government’s Department of Employment has started rounding up illegal foreign workers following last year’s amnesty. Checks on nearly 50,000 foreign workers at establishments in the past month had led to the arrest of 1,162 illegal workers and the prosecution of 204 law-breaking employers. The Department of Employment (DOE) chief Anurak Tossarat says 113 teams of officials, police and national security officers checked on establishments nationwide over the past month.

    PHOTO: Study Abroad By Eric Haeg According to an official announcement from the Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, citizens from South Africa, “are advised to apply for visa (sic.) at the Royal Thai Embassy or Royal Thai Consulate-General in their respective countries if they do not reside in Malaysia.” This list also includes citizens of dozens of other African, Middle Eastern and Asian nations. The announcement goes on to state, “If they wish, they can apply for visa (sic.) at the Royal Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur but at least 4 weeks must be allowed for the visa to be processed.” Fall out from this was reported as far back as September last year.
