Chiang Mai: Thai man arrested for attempted rape of female tourist
A man who robbed and allegedly attempted to rape a female Chinese tourist has been apprehended at his house while he was having his head shaved before entering the monkhood. Sanook is reporting that Mae Rim cops in Chiang Mai announce the arrest of 26 year old Wuthisak yesterday and took him on a reenactment to the entrance to the Huay Tung Tao reservoir where he is said to have attacked and robbed a Chinese tourist last Friday night. The 23 year old tourist had been walking around Muang district of Chiang Mai when she noticed Wuthisak wearing a t-shirt with the name of the same hotel she was staying at

Chiang Mai hostel & guesthouse owners seeking clarification on Hotel Act
PHOTO: Manon Hostel, Chiang Mai Concerns over interpretation of the current Hotels Act, following a court-ruling last month about a Hua Hin condo being deemed illegal when renting rooms by day or week, have spread to Chiang Mai where guesthouse and hostel owners are seeking clarification. Guesthouse, hostel and small hotel owners in the northern city have filed a petition to the Lawyers Council expressing their concerns and seeking amendments to the Hotel Act. The petition has been signed by 500 local business-people.

Wastewater flowing into the sea at Krabi
A waste water drain pipe has been found at Klong Muang Beach in Krabi. The local OrBorTor has already ordered its immediate removal. Following a complaint about alleged waste waters being released into the sea at Klong Muang Beach, the Chief of Environmental Hygiene Unit of Krabi Provincial Public Health, Boonrit Karunmethee, and President of Nong Talay Administration Organization (OrBorTor), Sukkai Chan-On and their teams, visited the location earlier today (April 11).

Patong hotel operators counter-sue military and former employee
The Patong Paragon Hotel operator, Wisit Iew-Wirotrit, together with his lawyer, Ananchai Chaiyadet and his lawyer team, visited Patong’s Police Station to issue litigation against the army officers and his former employee, both for criminal and civil charges, asking for 100 million Baht compensation. The charges include unlawful detention and perjury.
