Phuket seastead being removing by Thai Navy today
Navy officers are in the process of dismantling and removing the Phuket seastead today. About 300 navy officers are currently in the process removing the structure off the south east coast of the island. The operation is expected to be done by today, according to a spokesperson.

Legality of Seastead likely to be tested in an international court
The perceived naiveté of the team surrounding the seastead structure off Phuket’s south-east coast are about to be tested as the matter is likely to end up in an international court. Deputy PM Wissanu Krea-ngam says that the Thai government has the right to demolish the floating sea home and welcomed the threat of a lawsuit by its builder, Ocean Builders. Ocean Builders is a well-funded group backed by Peter Theil.

Phuket seastead will be removed today
The Third Naval Area Command will remove the seastead stationed off Phuket south-east coast today, belonging to an American bitcoin investor and seasteading innovators Ocean Builders. Thai authorities plan to seize the structure as evidence in a criminal case. They fear the structure will continue to be a navigation hazard if left there.

Pick-up driver slams into roadside steel shop, injures three
A drunk driver bounced off the side of a road in Ubon Ratchathani and then skidded side-ways into a roadside shop where young Songkran revellers were waiting quietly outside to greet passing vehicles. The crash ended up injuring three as the people waiting outside the shop scattered to get away from the black pick-up as it slammed into the shops. The incident happened outside the Phuwadet Steel Shop in the Don Mot Daeng district about 4.30pm on Saturday afternoon.

The legalisation of marijuana for medical purposes, is now in effect
Grass, pot, ganja, marijuana… cannabis. Whatever you want to call it, it can now be grown legally in Thailand and used in medical and scientific applications with th e consent of the authorities, under strict guidelines. The Narcotics Act 2562, which seeks to amend specific provisions of the Narcotics Act of 1979 to enable the use of marijuana for the treatment of patients, study, research and development, has now been published in the Royal Gazette.

More garbage has been found dumped beside the road in Krabi. About ten bags of garbage have been found dumped on the road in Mueang Krabi District where many tourists pass as they head to famous tourism places in Ao Nang.

Southern Muslim leaders disapprove of LGBT partner bill
“Only in the South has our public forum on the Life Partnership Bill heard opposition.” Muslim leaders in Thailand’s South have rejected the proposed Life Partnership Bill, which would allow LGBT couples to marry. The Nation reports that, if the bill becomes law, the religious leaders say they will not perform marriage rituals for LGBT couples.
