NCPO ‘damaged the image of the country’ – Future Forward party

Reuters is reporting that the new Thai party, headed up by auto-parts billionaire Thanathorn, and aiming to shake up politics, hit back at the ruling junta today accusing it of “tarnishing the image of the southeast Asian nation by filing police charges against some party members”. “The NCPO used its power to suppress the public who have political views that differ from its own,” the Future Forward Party said in a statement, referring to the junta by its official name, the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO)” – Reuters Using the same Facebook page which has already got Future Forward and 39 year old Thanathorn in trouble, they posted statements today condemning the NCPO’s reaction to a Facebook Live broadcast they did last week

PHOTOS: The Nation Thanathorn Joengrungruangkit, the acting leader of the new Future Forward Party has reported to the Technology Crime Suppression Division to defend himself against allegation filed against him by the NCPO over a Facebook live streaming event, deemed to be critical of the military government. Colonel Burin Thongprapai of the NCPO’s legal affairs department has accused Thanathorn of violating the Computer Crime Act for criticising the junta over the alleged poaching of ex-MPs of several parties and its failure to fix problems in farm prices. After the meeting with the TCSD police, the young politician told the media that whatever he spoke in the Facebook livestreaming on June 29 were facts and he didn’t think it amounted to political gathering of more than five people — an activity banned sine the junta swept to power in a coup in 2014

Not this year – PM rejects activists calls for a 2018 election
The Thai PM is playing down rallies by pro-democracy groups planned for this month to press the NCPO to hold the long-delayed election this year. Prayut Chan-o-cha is insisting that the election would have to be held next year following a conclusion by the junta-appointed legislative assembly to delay the implementation of the MP election laws.

MC quits teenage-targeted NCPO propaganda TV show
An MC of a junta-run TV program aimed at younger teenage viewers says her resignation from the show was due to “different working attitudes” while the junta government denied any involvement with the production. Pawaran Bannarak announced her decision to quit “Thailand Moves Forward Teenage Edition” on Saturday.
