Typhoon Mankhut batters Hong Kong and Macau
Swaying buildings, scaffolding being torn off buildings under construction, collapsed walls, smashed windows and flooding. That’s the result after Typhoon Mangkhut slammed into Hong Kong and Macau today around lunchtime. Heavy rain and strong winds have delivered storm surges of up to three metres in coastal regions such as Heng Fa Chuen in eastern Hong Kong Island and Tai O in western Lantau Island.

Injured sea snake found on Patong Beach

A Facebook user, Nattakorn Ruengroj, yesterday (September 13) posted pictures of the sea snake on his personal Facebook page stating that ‘this injured snake was found on Patong Beach’ Local fishermen say sea snakes are usually found in open seas and swimming on the water surface. Their food is usually small fish.

Bangkok cabbie gets surrounded by a gaggle of Pattaya taxi drivers
A Bangkok taxi driver had just dropped off his passenger to an address on Prathumnak Hill, Pattaya, when a woman by the side of the road hailed him. 40 year old Thipcharoen Phochanote, the driver, stopped to find out where she wanted to go. Pattaya News reports that he was then approached by another Pattaya taxi driver who enquired what he was doing on ‘their’ turf.

It’s either too much rain or no rain at all
Warnings are out from the Thai Meteorological Department this morning about heavy rains in some regions around the country. And irrigation officials are warning some provinces about local dam levels. Some southern provinces are forecast to get a drenching though to the end of this week.
