At least another 60 days in Thai jail for Hakeem al-Araibi

Bahrain’s extradition request was formally accepted for consideration last Friday. The 25 year old will have to remain in Thai prison for the two months, on top of the two months he’s already been in detention, after he faced the Thai criminal court today to formally lodge his refusal to be extradited to Bahrain. 49 offenders escape electronic monitoring devices since March 1
By Kesinee Tangkhieo Electronic monitoring devices are another way to keep people out of jail but still limited in their freedoms. But they’re not 100% effective as a survey of the Thai Court of Justice found. Mother threatens suicide over acquittal
(4 minute read) The suicide of a father, who jumped out of the eighth floor of Bangkok’s Criminal Court after a verdict was read acquitting the suspect in his son’s murder back in 2016, has taken a sad turn of events. Now the wife of the man who killed himself, and the murdered son’s mother, is threatening to kill herself as well. She revealed yesterday that she tried to kill herself along with her husband and threatened to take her own life if the Appeals Court upholds the verdict

Prachasamakkee villagers block land office from measuring land border
During a visit at the Prachasamakkee Community today (December 7), the team at the Phuket Provincial Land Office and the lawyer of the plaintiff against the villagers were not allowed to check the measurement of the village land to make a plan to file to the court.

Phuket locals protest over community land claim
About 100 villagers from the Prachasamakkee community gathered at the Phuket provincial hall at 9 am today (December 6) to call for their rights to live on the land of the community, after 70 villagers have been sued by a person claiming to be the landlord. The protest was led by the community leader, Surasak Tainapriew, alongside the secretary of the community, Weerayut Jaesoh, who handed their complaint letter to Phuket’s Governor through the Vice Governor, Prakob Wongmaneerung. “The reason for the protest today is that the villagers who have lived on the land of the community for more than 10 years understand that the land was unoccupied.
