    PHUKET: A Russian man was found dead, hanged from a tree in a wooded area near Phuket’s iconic Promthep Cape, at the southernmost tip of the island, on Saturday morning. Chalong Police received news of the deceased foreigner at 8:30am. “We found the body of Vladimir Slobodenyuk, 29, from Russia, hanging by a length of nylon rope from a large acacia tree near the soccer field [close to the large wind turbines],” said Chalong Police Capt Thada Sodarak.

    PHUKET: Police rounded up 84 suspected illegal fishermen from across the island yesterday through raids on the Phuket Fish Marketing Organization, the Patong area and various boats dotted along the Phuket coastline. “Officers were arranged into three teams and inspected locations where we guessed illegal immigrant workers might be found,“ said Phuket Immigration Superintendent Sanchai Chokhayaikij.     PHUKET: Drug arrests over the last two days have brought police closer to the source: a dealer based inside Nakhon Sri Thammarat Prison.     PHUKET: Relatives have confirmed that the body that washed ashore near the northern end of Kamala Beach yesterday morning is that of 34-year-old Non Boonsopha, who was swept out to sea while fishing with friends and family on Phuket on Sunday. Mr Non was fishing from the rocks on Laem Son, the headland at the southern end of Bang Tao Beach, when a large wave struck him and dragged him out to sea, said Ruamjai Rescue Foundation worker Koson Thaotawin.
