Dramatic robbery of five pick-ups leaves two dead in Songkla
At least two people are dead after a daring robbery of five pick-up trucks in Songkhla yesterday which set off a dramatic series of events, including a hostage-taking, shootout, explosion and the safe disposal of a bomb. It started about 11am when a group of six or seven armed suspects raided the Wangto Car Centre in Tambon Na Thawi in Songkhla’s Na Thawi district and took four employees hostage. Witnesses said the gun-wielding men in black arrived at the car centre in a Mazda BT-50 pickup truck

Japanese man gets bitten by ‘something’ at Kamala
A 25-30 year old Japanese man was calling for help this morning (Wednesday) after getting attacked by a mystery marine creature at Kamala Beach which left him with some severe, deep wounds. Kamala police and locals in the area have surmised that the wounds seem to have resulted from sharp teeth, perhaps even a shark. The man suffered a deep wound on the left heel while there were 3 other marks on the side of his left foot.

Supreme Court Judges under protection in lead up to Yingluck verdict
Security officers will be sent to guard judges in the high-profile case involving former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra to maintain order ahead of the announcement of a verdict. The panel of nine judges hearing the case in the Supreme Court’s Criminal Division for Political Office Holders, and their residences, will be under guard until after the court delivers its verdict on August 25.
