HRH Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana, granddaughter of the late King and daughter of King Rama X, led the 77-horse cavalry in the sixth procession at the final dress rehearsal for enshrining the Royal Ashes in two temples last night. The final procession sees the Royal Ashes transferred in a royal car from the Phra Sri Rattana Chedi at the Temple of the Emerald Buddha to be enshrined at Wat Rajabopidh and Wat Bavoranives. The actual royal ceremony will take place on October 29 at 5.30pm.
A van from a tour company hit an electric pole on the Bypass Road, opposite McDonalds on the way to towards the Samkong Underpass intersection. The driver, who was only named “Pu” or “Fu” sustained injuries to his left leg and some scratches. He was stuck in the van before an ambulance from Siriroj Hospital was able to rescue him from the scene.

The operators of the Ofo and Obike share-bike scheme have agreed to extend the free service from the end of this month to the end of the year to provide more time for Phuketians and tourists to get used to the share-bike system. The extension was announced during a press conference yesterday (October 20) to explain about the public share-bike system in Phuket, chaired by Governor Norapat Plodthong alongside the executives of PKCD (Phuket City Development), Ofo, Obike and police. The conference explained more about the system, cooperation, rules, and punishments and hosted a Q&A session to clarify the details of this new service.
A huge crowd turned out around Sanam Luang on Saturday to watch the final dress rehearsal of the historic Royal Cremation Ceremony for His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej. Many of them had arrived at 9pm on Friday and camped out to reserve vantage viewing positions for the dress rehearsal of the royal processions for the Royal Cremation Ceremony. The Royal Cremation is scheduled on October 26 next week.

40 year old Danudech Maliwan from Phang Nga, a worker at a rubber plantation in Thalang, has been shot on his left arm by an anonymous shooter driving a white car. Police found a .357 bullet left at the scene. The rubber plantation is located at the entrance of the Tonsai Waterfall in the Thepkasattri sub district
On October 1 all TV stations ‘toned down’ their programming under orders from the National Broadcasting Telecommunications Commission (NBTC). Programming was toned down both in content and the actual colours. The same was applied to most websites as the colour and saturation were ’toned down’ out of respect for the anniversary of the passing of King Bhumibol and the Royal Funeral and Cremation at the end of this month.
