MAP: Narathiwat’s Ra Ngae district Four rangers have escaped unhurt after southern insurgents detonated a roadside bomb in an attack in Narathiwat’s Ra Ngae district this morning. Police say the attack happened at 8.10am on a main road in Ban Pa Phai village in Tambon Tanyong.

Tourism Council of Thailand promises to raise standards of tourist safety
By Chadamas Chinmaneevong, ttgasia.com The Tourism Council of Thailand (TCT) says they are “joining hands with state agencies including the Department of Land Transport, Marine Department and Tourism Authority of Thailand to improve tourist safety standards nationwide and overturn perceptions of the country as a dangerous tourist destination.” The project is a reaction to the many, many safety related incidents that occur, and are reported overseas, to tourists visiting Thailand. The Tourism Council of Thailand says that countries like UK and China are expressing concerns about their citizens heading to Thailand for holidays.

Chinese tourist rescued after a diving incident at Koh Racha
PHOTOS: Go-Eco Phuket A male Chinese tourist is currently in a satisfactory condition in hospital after a diving accident off Koh Racha Yai, south west of Phuket, yesterday. Go-Eco Phuket, a local conversational group, reported that they were notified of the incident at about noon.

Russian tourist rescued from sea off Krabi
A 27 year old Russian tourist was pulled out of the water at Koh Lanta in Krabi early last night. Navy officers were notified by Koh Lanta Police that the 27 year old female Russian tourist Mariia Novikova had been rescued after being recovered from the waters off a beach in Koh Lanta

Nakhon Ratchasima shoots himself after CNY celebrations
A Nakhon Ratchasima man has shot himself while his mother and sister were washing up in the next room following a Chinese New Year dinner in their shophouse. Police were alerted to the suicide at a house on Soi Pattana Prapa Community 2 in Nai Muang, Muang district at 6.45pm last night. They arrived to find Weerawat Phisitthapat’s body lying in the ground-floor living room with a gunshot wound to the left side of his chest.
