The beach has been a popular photo opportunity for visitors but is causing additional aviation safety concerns as the photography and airport traffic increase. Phuket Airport deputy director Wichit Kaewsaithiam says that public access will have to be pushed back along the beach.

    An unidentified western tourist has ransacked a Pattaya hotel toilet before injuring three policemen who tried to arrest him. The tourist was then badly injured when he fell from the second floor of the hotel trying to escape through a window of the hotel in South Pattaya. Police, at this stage, have been unable to identify the man and are waiting for doctors at the hospital to provide access to the man when he is able to be questioned

    A taxi driver was shot and killed in Patong this morning, apparently over an ongoing dispute at a taxi rank they worked at together. Patong police headed to the scene at 10.20am on Phra Metta Road (aka. Phang Muang Sai Kor Road) in Patong (third road back from the beach). The incident occurred at a make-shift taxi stand between The Marina and the Three by APK Hotel, heading south on Sai Kor Road on the left hand side.
