    By Bill Barnett of c9hotelworks.com A new set of guidelines that quietly come into law late last year are set to alter the state of real estate  and hotel development in Phuket. The revised regulations were issued by Thailand’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and apply to Phuket Province. Perhaps the most significant amendment is that buildings are no longer allowed on slopes of 35% incline and above, wherein in the past the threshold was 50%.

    The first banknotes bearing a portrait of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn will be issued on April 6, Chakri Day. The Bank of Thailand announced on Thursday that, in accordance with permission granted by the palace, it would release banknotes bearing an image of King Rama X that day in the denominations of 20, 50 and 100 baht 500 baht and 1,000 baht notes with his portrait will enter circulation on July 28, His Majesty’s birthday. Older banknotes will remain legal tender

    Phuket police and a team of local authorities have arrested 27 year old Anchalee Pantumat, from Nakhon Sawan province, with a list of illegal items including 113 grams of marijuana, a carbine (rifle) with eleven .30 bullets along with jungle cat fur and a sambar deer skull. At her house in Rawai, Police also found marijuana and methamphetamine paraphernalia, 2 BB guns, digital scales, plastic bags for packing and 103,500 Baht in cash
