PHUKET: A Myanmar national fell off the back of a pick-up truck and died on the road in Mai Khao in front of his wife and son yesterday afternoon. Saw Aung, 42, and four other Myanmar nationals, including his wife and son, were being taken to Takua Pa, Phang Nga to buy supplies when the front driver-side tyre of the truck they were riding in burst. “The tyre exploded and I lost control,” said the group’s 45-year-old employer, Jakkrawuth Phadungsab.
PHUKET: The controversial new road planned to provide access to Freedom Beach, south of Patong, took a step closer to becoming reality as the project passed its third and final public hearing on Friday. PHUKET: Police are still looking for an explanation as to what caused a car driven by a Danish expat to fly off the road and plunge into an appliance store in Thalang on Thursday evening. Police arrived at the scene, about 250 meters from Baan Nai Klam Mosque on the southbound side of Thepkrasattri Road, at about 6:30pm. The 50-year-old driver, Per Erichsen, was in a daze, said Chatree Chuwichian of the Thalang Police.
PHUKET: An Australian expat died early yesterday morning in Phuket after allegedly driving his motorbike one-handed. “The accident happened at about 1:50am in the morning. Eyewitness accounts described Wayne Anthony Stone driving his motorbike at high speeds with only one hand holding the handlebars,” Navin Petchan of the Kamala Police told the Phuket Gazette.
PHUKET: Phuket Police arrested two French nationals Wednesday night after one shoplifted 9,000 baht worth of testosterone injections in his underwear while the other created a diversion. Patong Police were informed of the theft at the Health and Herb pharmacy on Soi Bangla at about 4:50pm and rushed to the scene. “A man and a woman came into the shop,” said store owner Ratthaya Sawatraksa.
PHUKET: A ship carrying cargo was engulfed by flames near Koh Naka, off Phuket’s east coast this afternoon. Phuket Marine Police were notified of the incident at about 4pm by a speedboat captain. First reports are that all on board the ship were safely rescued by the passing speedboat.
