The town is east of Bangkok near the Cambodian border. Out of the seven men, aged 14-22, four were minors and have been brought to the child and juvenile court of Buri Ram as police can only detain them for 24 hours.

    The Thai PM has described the attackers as “opportunists” after a wave of coordinated bomb attacks by suspected insurgents hit Thailand’s “deep south” in the lead-up to new year and the resulting long weekend. The latest attacks occurred on Friday night in a series of seven separate incidents in three separate districts of Narathiwat province. Two bomb attacks occurred in Sri Sakhon district, four in Chanae district, and militants “ambushed a base in Rangae district” using grenades.

A Facebook user ‘Niruj Kdtv Kamala’ has posted two photos on his personal facebook with a message reading, “Kamala fishermen have spotted two whale sharks which were swimming with the boat about three nautical miles off Kamala Beach.” Meanwhile, a large whale shark has also been spotted at Koh Pak Biea between Phang Nga and Krabi in Phang Nga Bay last week.
