Myanmar tourism growth stalls in first half of 2018
(4 minute read) Myanmar has seen a slight contraction in tourist number during the first half of t2018. Tourist arrivals still reached 1,722,049 visits, a drop of 2%, according to the latest update by Hotel and Tourism Ministry. Thai tourists remain the top source market but China is catching up. Other tourists are coming from Japan, South Korea, Singapore, India, Vietnam and Malaysia.

Government unveils 600 billion baht EEC projects

The long and winding roads – Asia’s roads ranked
PHOTO: Asian Development Bank “Road infrastructure is the marker of a country’s development and is significant for safety and satisfaction of the citizens.” This, according to an opinion survey by World Economic Forum very few Asian countries have the best road infrastructure. Singapore is ranked at the top in Asia and second globally in terms of road infrastructure in the country. It is followed by Japan and Taiwan which have equally well maintained roads ranked 5 and 11 respectively.

The rise in tourists to Thailand over the past two decades has been staggering. Whilst there are ebbs and flows in the tourism mix and the occasional political fracas, one thing is consistent – the rise in the tourist numbers flocking to the Kingdom. Phuket expecting 5 – 7 percent increase in high-season tourists
Phuket Hotels Association President Anthony Lark The Phuket Hotels Association is expecting the number of international direct passenger arrivals at Phuket International Airport for the high season of 2017 to 2018 to increase by between 5 per cent and 7 per cent year year-on-year. This, according to Association President Anthony Lark. The latest figures show that from January to April this year, the number of international direct passenger arrivals at Phuket airport was 1,690,890 – up 5 per cent over the same period last year, according to data from Airports of Thailand and C9 Hotelworks
