End of an era – Phuket FC dissolves under burden of debt
The famous local football team, Phuket FC, has announced its dissolution after getting sued by 3 foreign players for a total of 83 million Baht. Today (November 28), at the Tourism and Sports Office, the President of Phuket FC, Pitipol Nukulpanichwiwat, alongside Phuket FC’s consultant, Sunanta Krajang, held a press conference to announce the dissolution of the Club. The 3 players, including Roland, Alonso and Santos, filed the lawsuit to ask for 83 million Baht for their loss claiming that their contracts have been revoked unfairly and includes the FIFA fine.

“Get rid of corruption – close at 4am”
Patong entertainment businesses have filed formal requests to close their venues at 4 am, convinced that this is the solution to end bribery in Patong. The association members led by the president, Weerawit Kruasombat, filed a letter to Kathu District Chief, Somprat Prabsongkram today (November 27) for the attention of Phuket Governor, the Interior Minister and Prime Minister as well as Commissionner-General of Royal Thai Police to call for a consideration on the extension of closing time of the entertainment avenues in Patong. The group also followed up about the extension of entertainment avenues zoning which they say needs more public hearings.

PSU sending a Safe Sex message – 25,000 condoms at a time
Students from Phuket’s Prince of Songkhla University were busy this afternoon preparing thousands of condom packs. It’s a regular voluntary activity each semester at PSU. Carex in Bangkok provide the condoms, the students pack them into small packs for distribution.

Countdown to the big clean-up
The countdown is on for this Saturday’s mega beach clean-up around the island of Phuket. The activities kick off at 8am at different venues around the island. The Phuket Hotels Association have been active in investing in the island’s future.

Thailand Tourist Police Road Show to roll into Phuket
PHUKET: A caravan of four mobile homes and a trailer full of facilities free for tourists to use will be set up from 7:30pm to 9:00pm in Phuket this Saturday as part of a promotional campaign to make tourists feel safe about travelling in Thailand. Phuket hotels offer great escape deals for Bangkok flood evacuees
PHUKET: At least seven Phuket hotels and resorts have signed up for the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) campaign, offering discounted room rates to Bangkok flood evacuees. Bangornrat Shinaprayoon, director of the TAT office in Phuket, said Phuket was one destination that many people from Bangkok were fleeing to.
