Seven police officers have already been transferred out of Phuket while investigations continues after a man was shot dead by police following the man breaking through a checkpoint in Phuket Town last week. An ambulance returning to Phayao, after delivering a patient to Phitsanulok, has hit a tree in Lampang this morning, killing two nurses and the driver. Police say the accident happened at 7am on the Ngao-Phayao road in Ban Huay Oon village of Lampang’s Ngao district.

Thailand could gain significant long-term economic benefit by making the roads safer and saving its mainly young and capable population from premature death in accidents, according to a World Bank report. The report entitled “The High Toll of Traffic Injuries: Unacceptable and Preventable”, concludes that, if road traffic injuries could be reduced in Thailand by 50 per cent and satisfactory road safety sustained for 24 years, the economy would enjoy a 22 percent boost. Dipan Bose, one of the researchers involved, says the key to earning that substantial benefit was ensuring that productive young people live long enough to contribute to the country’s prosperity. Instead, they’re dying or being maimed in road crashes while still young.

Kusoldharm Rescue were notified about the incident at 8.35pm on Saturday night. Divers from Kusoldarm Foundation searched for the man for two hours while Patong lifeguards were on standby on the beach.

Police have arrested three suspects with methamphetamine pills, crystal methamphetamine and kratom. Police firstly arrested 35 year old Wichean ‘Mar’ Saetan. Police seized 9.35 grams of crystal methamphetamine and 184 of methamphetamine pills. He has been charged with illegal possession of Category 1 drugs with intent to sell.
